Yesterday...

Yesterday, July 7th, marked 8 years of wedded bliss

8 Things I've learned over the last 8 years:

1. Never complain about having to wait til 5:00 for your husband to come home. You never know when you'll start having to wait till 10:00 for him to come home.

2. "I was at my mom's pool all day" is not a valid excuse for not making dinner. Does not go over well.

3. The old adage "never go to bed angry" is a load of crap. Not only is it healthy for a relationship to put off the argument until both sides are well-rested, but it is vital for success in marriage. (At least it is for ours. Apparently I get a little mean when I'm tired.)

4. If you hold hands and talk to each other while taking the kids to Walmart on a Friday or Saturday night, it can totally be considered a date.

5. If your husband comes home and the house is a disaster, dinner isn't made, and the to-do list remains untouched on the dry erase board, it's probably not a good idea to get mad at him for the socks he left on the floor again. That's a fight you won't win.

6. In Man Talk, three subtle hints = one clear cut request. This took me about 7 years to figure out.

7. When you make the same jokes about the show you're watching and laugh in all the same places, you know you've married your best friend.

8. And lastly, when your "What I've Learned" list looks like the one above and your husband never complains and still considers you the apple of his eye, you know you've got a winner.

Happy Anniversary (a day later) Sweetie.
I think you're pretty great!
